CATERING GUIDE

How to Plan Greek Catering in Long Beach

A practical, no-surprises guide to choosing the right catering path, planning for your group, and knowing what George’s team needs from you.

The fastest way to plan catering is to separate two different needs: placing a ready-to-go food order and asking a person to help shape an event. George’s supports both, and choosing the right path first prevents duplicate forms, surprise payment steps, and lost details.

01

First, choose: online order or planning inquiry?

Use online catering when you are ready to select menu items, choose an available date and fulfillment option, enter your group size, and pay through Toast. Use the inquiry when you still need help with the venue, service level, menu, budget, dietary needs, staffing, or timing.

Ready to order

  • Your date and approximate guest count are known.
  • You can choose from the current Toast catering menu.
  • You are ready to review fulfillment and payment.

Need a person to help

  • You are comparing pickup, delivery, or full service.
  • Your event has venue, setup, staffing, or dietary questions.
  • You want Nicky and the events team to follow up.

Important: an inquiry is not an order or confirmed booking. An online order is completed only after Toast shows your selections, fulfillment details, totals, and payment confirmation.

02

Start with guest count—but add context

Toast’s catering checkout requires the number of people in your group. That number is the starting point, not the whole plan. Tell the events team whether the meal is a light lunch, a full dinner, part of a larger spread, or expected to include leftovers.

Gather these details before you begin

  • Expected guest count and a reasonable high estimate
  • Adults and children, when that changes the meal plan
  • Meal time and how long food will be served
  • Other food that will be available
  • Known allergies and dietary requests
  • Venue access, stairs, elevators, parking, and loading instructions

Do not guess at platter yields from a general internet chart. Menu formats and portions vary. Review the current Toast descriptions, then ask George’s team when the mix of guests or dishes makes the quantity unclear.

Availability, lead times, delivery areas, minimums, fees, and payment are not assumptions made by this guide. Review the values shown in Toast for the order you are building, or confirm them with the events team.

05

Use a simple planning timeline

  1. 1

    Define the event

Date, meal time, location, group size, budget range, service needs, and a decision-maker.

  2. 2

    Choose the path

Order in Toast if you are ready, or submit one complete inquiry if you need planning help.

  3. 3

    Confirm the details

Review the final menu, fulfillment, address, access instructions, dietary notes, totals, payment, and point of contact.

  4. 4

    Prepare the handoff

Name the person receiving the food and the person responsible for serving, temperature control, cleanup, and leftovers.

Place the order as early as your event allows. The actual dates and lead times that matter are the ones Toast makes available for your specific cart, or the schedule confirmed by George’s team.

06

Plan the day-of handoff and food safety

Before food arrives, clear a stable receiving and serving area, confirm access with the driver or pickup person, and have the equipment needed to keep hot food hot and cold food cold. Do not leave perishable food at room temperature for the length of a long event.

USDA guidance for take-out food says hot food should be held at 140°F or above, cold food at 40°F or below, and perishable food should be refrigerated within two hours—or one hour when temperatures are above 90°F. Read USDA take-out safety guidance

Before guests arrive

  • Confirm the receiver’s name and phone
  • Make loading, parking, elevator, and gate instructions easy to find
  • Set out serving utensils and food labels
  • Keep allergen-sensitive meals identified and separated as instructed
  • Decide when food will be served and when leftovers will be refrigerated

Frequently asked questions

Can I submit an inquiry without placing an order?

Yes. Use the catering inquiry when you want planning help or need to discuss service, venue, timing, dietary needs, or a custom event. An inquiry does not place a food order or confirm a booking.

Does the online catering checkout ask for guest count?

Yes. Toast’s catering checkout includes a required field for the number of people in your group. You can also check out as a guest.

Where do I see current catering prices and availability?

Toast is the source for current online catering prices, available dates, fulfillment choices, lead times, and payment. The website helps you choose the right path before continuing.
